The project was a Design-Build to replace the existing asphalt built-up roof system (BUR) with new membrane (EPDM) roofing system over an occupied, highly sensitive activity space. The scope of work included full removal of the existing system to include all plies, flashing, curbs, aggregate, insulation, bitumen, and miscellaneous and/or abandoned equipment.  K2CG thoroughly cleaned and inspected the existing concrete roof deck, repaired as needed (misc. cement patching) and prepared it as required to receive the new insulated MOD BIT system.  K2CG analyzed the existing drainage system and made adjustments/ additions to facilitate proper roof drainage throughout. A new EPDM system included a tapered insulation assembly (min. R-22), cant strips, pre-fabricated curb assemblies, custom fabricated copings and flashings, certified lighting protection, walkways and 60 mil EPDM membrane assembly complete with manufacturer’s no dollar limit (NDL) system warranty.
