Project Summary
Training Center Cape May is the fifth largest base in the Coast Guard and the sole accession point for the entire enlisted workforce. Per this contract, K2CG removed the existing storm damaged membrane roofing material, furnished and installed a fully adhered PVC membrane roof system over a multi-layered and tapered (min. R-30) insulation assembly over a complex concrete deck structure. Additionally, K2CG installed all new custom sheet metal flashings, accessories and a certified lighting protection system.

Challenges

  • Providing adequate interior protection and ongoing house keeping
  • Site safety and general hazard analysis and mitigation
  • During construction, extensive spalling in the structural concrete deck was uncovered throughout. K2CG value engineered a solution and performed repairs to approximately 40% of the concrete deck.
